A hotel near Ellora Caves, with a lake at the door
Hiranya is a family-run nature resort just 8 km from the Ellora Caves: close enough to reach the Kailasa Temple before the crowds, far enough to fall asleep to crickets instead of traffic.
Why stay near Ellora, not in the city
Most hotels in Aurangabad sit in the city, 30 km and a traffic-filled hour from the caves. From Hiranya you can be at the Ellora gate when it opens at 6 am, walk the Kailasa Temple in soft morning light, and be back at the pool by lunch. Ellora is closed on Tuesdays, so plan around that.
We also run an early guided cycle ride to Ellora (8 km each way on quiet roads) and full-day Ellora & Ajanta tours with expert guides, plus VIP darshan at Grishneshwar on request.
Where you'll stay
Eleven air-conditioned Deluxe Rooms, nine Glamping Cottages (including poolside cottages) and twenty Camping Tents are spread across 15 acres beside the 700-year-old Mombatta Lake. Every stay includes breakfast and pool access, and pets are welcome.
After the caves
Kayak on the lake at dawn, trek to the ridge above Daulatabad Fort at sunset, eat at our waterfall-side restaurant, and end the day around a bonfire under the Milky Way. More than 50 species of birds visit the lake and the old mango trees.
