Maharashtra is one of India's most diverse camping destinations. The Western Ghats offer lush green hillside camping from June through September. The Konkan coast has clifftop and beach sites. The Vidarbha region has wildlife sanctuary camping near tiger reserves. And in Marathwada, the Aurangabad district offers something unique — camping within sight of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, beside 700-year-old lakes, under skies with almost no light pollution.
Hiranya Resort is the anchor point for serious adventurers exploring the Aurangabad region. Our campground — set on the lakeside with the Daultabad Fort silhouette visible above and a 14-acre property providing complete privacy — offers a combination of wilderness and comfort that is genuinely difficult to replicate.
THE CAMPING EXPERIENCE AT HIRANYA:
The campground works in two modes. Our own camping tents are pre-set, comfortable, and include breakfast and pool access — ideal for first-time campers or those who want the experience without the logistics. The second mode is bring-your-own: overlanders with RVs, adventure motorcyclists with sleeping rolls, or groups with their own tent systems can use our campground with full access to facilities including the restaurant, bar, pool, and bathrooms.
WHAT MAKES HIRANYA DIFFERENT:
Beyond the lakeside location, it's the combination of activities. A morning at the campfire leads to a 6am trek to the fort, followed by a cycle to Ellora for the opening. Fishing in the afternoon, a bonfire and BBQ as night falls, and then — away from city lights — a night sky that shows the Milky Way as clearly as any rural location in Maharashtra.
Advance booking is strongly recommended for campsite reservations, particularly during peak season (October–January) and weekends.
