Ellora Caves - Where to eat and where NOT to eat .

Ellora Caves is a UNESCO World Heritage site, located in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra, India. The caves are a complex of Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain temples and monasteries, carved out of a giant basaltic rock formation. The caves are a popular tourist destination, attracting thousands of visitors every year. And while the site itself is the main attraction, there are plenty of places to eat in and around Ellora Caves that are worth checking out.

One of the most popular lunch places in the area is Hiranya Resorts, which is located just a short distance from the caves. The restaurant offers a wide variety of Indian and international cuisine, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. The food is prepared using organic ingredients and cooked to perfection, making it a favorite among both domestic and international tourists. What i enjoed the most was the seating area next to a waterfall which is by far one of the most beautiful restaurants I have been to in India. Check this out !

Oh and they also have a fantastic AC Pub where they serve superb cocktails and locally brewed craft beers . ( I will highly recommend the Whiskey Sour & Farmhouse Ale)

In addition to Hiranya Resorts, there are several street food options and local restaurants in the area. However, it is important to note that street food can be risky for tourists, as it can sometimes lead to stomach issues. Therefore, it is recommended that visitors stick to restaurants and cafes for their meals.

Another option is the Ellora Caves Restaurant, which is located right outside the caves. The restaurant offers a mix of Indian and Chinese cuisine, and the food is reasonably priced. The location is convenient for those who want to grab a quick bite before or after visiting the caves.

While there are many options for food in and around Ellora Caves, it is important to prioritize hygiene and food safety. Therefore, it is best to stick to established restaurants and cafes and avoid street food.

In conclusion, if you are planning a visit to Ellora Caves, make sure to try the local cuisine at one of the many restaurants in the area. Hiranya Resorts is a must-visit for a delicious lunch, while Gajali is a great option for authentic Maharashtrian food. However, it is important to stay away from street food to avoid any health risks. Enjoy your visit to Ellora Caves and savor the local flavors!
