Every morning at Hiranya Resort, between 6 and 7am, something happens in the open lawn near the lake that guests who experience it consistently describe as one of the highlights of their stay.
The morning yoga session takes place on our lakeside lawn — the same grass that langurs cross every morning on their way to the mango tree. To one side, the shimmering water of the Daulatabad Lake reflects the early sky. Above it, the silhouette of Daultabad Fort's ancient walls gradually becomes defined as the light builds. The air at that hour carries the night's coolness and the sound of a hundred birds beginning their day.
The yoga itself is gentle and accessible — suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners alike. The emphasis is on pranayama (breathwork) in the first 15 minutes, moving into asanas aligned with the energy of the morning light. For guests who would like a more rigorous practice, our instructor can accommodate more advanced sequences.
What makes the experience genuinely different from any studio class is the specific quality of the environment. The combination of altitude — we are at the base of the Sahyadri foothills — the lake's presence, and the extraordinary biodiversity of the property creates a sensory environment that supports the purpose of yoga practice in ways that no built environment can replicate.
Evening meditation sessions are also available by request — typically conducted near the campfire area as the light fades and the bats begin their flight over the lake. The transition from day to night in this landscape, observed in silence, is a practice in itself.
Yoga and meditation sessions are available for all residential guests. Please inform the front desk at check-in about your interest so arrangements can be made.
